Show Legion, Auxiliary Convene At IVIyton In District IVIeet MYTON -The American Leg, lan and the Auxiliary from Dis trlct 5 held a joint convention, Sunday, May 25, at Myton with retiring District Commander Martin R. Curtis, Ft. Duchesne and District Auxiliary President Bliss Hubbard, Price, officiating. With dignitaries from the Utah Department of the Legion and Auxiliary in attendance, the two service organizations met in joint session: at the Mfon school auditorium .where they were officially welcomed by Mayor W. H. Linck, of Myton. The joint meeting was climaxed by addresses addres-ses from Department Commander Com-mander Kingsley Clawson, Department De-partment Adjutant A. S. Hors-ley. Hors-ley. Department Vice-Commander Herman Christensen, and National Executive Committeeman Commit-teeman Harry Hickman. Departmental Auxiliary officers of-ficers who spoke to the assembly were President Margie McMurr rin and Secretary-Treasurer Eva Coakley, with National Executive Execu-tive Commltteewoman Ethel Tasker appearing before the group as a special guest. The opening Rrogram - of the joint meeting, consisting of vocal vo-cal and instrumental numbers by Mrs. Roland Krebs'and Rudy Krissman, was under the direction direc-tion of Harvey Partridge, post commander of William R. Sands Post. Following the general conference, con-ference, the auxiliary members adjourned to the Latter-Day Saints ward chapel, .where unit reports were given and regular business transacted. Special business for both the Legion and the Auxiliary members mem-bers from District 5, was the election elec-tion of officers who will assume their posts in August at the Utah Department convention, scheduled schedul-ed for Salt Lake. Slated to direct the affairs of the Legion district are: John Forrester, Price, district commander; com-mander; Stewart Ashton, Vernal, 1st vice-commander; and M. R. Cook, Helper, 2nd vice commander. comman-der. Auxiliary leaders for 1947 were named as follows:. Pauline Hazelbush, Vernal; president; Rachacl Wilson, Duchesne, 1st vice-president; Gladys Voll, Helper, Hel-per, 2nd vice-president and Clys-ta Clys-ta Anaus. Roosevelt, historian. |
