Show J. P. Madsep Is Elected To Office Possibly the closest race which has developed in the election elec-tion in Utah was contest between John P. Madsen, democrat and Horace L. Allred, republican candidates for State Representative, Representa-tive, and they both have had the experience of feeling that they had been elected and defeated in the same contest. When the election returns were first totalled it seemed that Mr. Allred had been elected by a margin of six votes, the count then showed 1366 votes cast for Mr. Allred and 1360 cast for Mr. Madsen. When the final checking was made by the County Commissioners Commis-sioners in their meeting last Monday it was found that Tab-iona Tab-iona had 41 votes listed on the report and had actually cast 51 votes for Mr. Madsen. Another vote from a soldier was cast for him, making a total difference of 11 votes. This changed the lead of 6 which had been reported re-ported for Mr. Allred to a lead of 5 for Mr. Madsen. So for 6 days Mr. Madsen thought he was the defeated candidate and Mr. Allred thought he was elected, and now it seems that the reverse is really real-ly true. There were no other changes that affected the results of any other candidate. |
