He is the grandson of Mrs. Sarah Jacobs Ja-cobs of Roosevelt. Thurmer entered en-tered the Navy in September, 1943, took his "boot" training at Farragut, Idaho, was selected ; to attend a Radio Technician . school at Wright Junior college in Chicago, from there he went . to Texas A & M for three i months, later transferred to Treasure Island for advanced training, graduating August 15. He has been assigned there as an i instructor in electronics. Mr. i Jacobs was accompanied by his 1 -wife. They left Thursday and ' will visit his brother, Chell Ja-" Ja-" cobs before reporting fcr duty j November 26th. - IN ITALY I 15th AAF IN ITALY Sgt. I Wilmer D. Parrish. son of Mr. rf and Mrs. Lyman M. Parrish of n Mylon, is a sheet metal worker in a 15th AAF B-24 Liberator - group which has flown over one hundred and 'fifty missions over li enemy territory. - Sgt. Parrish entered the army air forces in January, 1943. VISITS FOLKS Lee Wiscombe spent last week here with his wife and family and relatives. He has been stationed sta-tioned in Washington with the U S Navy and has now been transferred to New Orleans with the mechanic division. His wife and children reside in Roosevelt. Lee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wiscombe. fa ta. . RECEIVES MEDICAL DISCHARGE Albert Mathews of Bluebell has recently been discharged from the army, after being wounded in the fighting at Guadalcanal and spending over a year in the general hospital at Bushnell. He is now at his home in Bluebell, Utah, with an honorable honor-able discharge from the army. Pa ps VISITS HERE Flight Officer Lee Harmston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harmston, left Thursday for his station at Monta Rae, California, Californ-ia, after spending the past week here. He has been at Maxton Field, North Carolina. Mrs. Harmston and daughter accompanied accom-panied him home to visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Daniels. |
