Show Roosevelt Pioneer Happily Married For 62 Years "Good hard work no time to quarrel," was the reason Jeremiah Jere-miah Murray of Roosevelt, gave as the secret of his 62 years of happy wedded life this week. Jeremiah and his wife, Christina, Chris-tina, are having a family reunion this week at the home of one of their sons, J. G. Murray, Sandy, Utah. The Murrays were married Nov. 8, 1882, at Vernon, Utah, September, 1940, their marriage by Bishop John C. Shark; It was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mr. Murray was born Dec. 7, 1863, in Spanish Fork. Mrs. Murray was born in Sweden Swe-den Nov. 19, 1865, and came to Utah when she was 11 years old. The Murrays pitched one of the first tents in Roosevelt when it was opened to homesteading. ..Since then Mr. Murray has been a successful farmer and cattleman cattle-man in Duchesne and Uintah counties. Mr. Murray was a ward teacher for 25 years. The Murrays Mur-rays have a one-acre farm with chickens, cow, and a saddle horse which Mr. Murray still rides. Jeremiah and Christina have eight sons and daughters: Mrs. Elda Cloward, Taft, California; J. G. Murray, Sandy; V. L. Murray Mur-ray and Clyde Murray, Roosevelt; Roose-velt; Mrs. Mont Wilkins, St. ! George; Mrs. Delia McClellan, Union; Douglas Murray, Helper; Ralph Murray, with the U S Army in Puerto Rico. They also have 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. One son and seven grandsons are in the armed forces. |
