Show College Girl Plans Her Fall Wardrobe Shorlie Coats, Gabardine' Suits Take Her Fancy. By CIIERIE NICHOLAS ' Comes soon the big moment when a college girl's fancy turns seriously to thoughts of her fall wardrobe-to-be. She will find the stage all set in the college clothes section for her arrival, with just the fashions she likes best. Her first burst of enthusiasm will be called forth at sight of the smart coats and the classic casual dresses that impress her because of their smooth styling and general air of distinction. The new wing sleeves, the rounded shoulders, the whittled waistlines with their drawstring strategy give her a thrilL She chooses for her autumn coat that college-irl favorite, a beige fleece model in the new "shortie" length with its belted-in waistline and its dramatic winged sleeves, all ofj which makes it look "different." Her suit? Well, it's a toss up between be-tween a perfectly stunning plaid wool collarless jacket suit and a most ladylike looking suit in brown wool gabardine (with the new wing sleeves, of course). Or she may choose a suit of a wool stripe in the new capucine brown and yellowish beige. She is wishing she could buy all three. The moment she casts her eye on the new jumper frocks she feels the I urge to possess more than one. She marvels at their suave lines. She jots down in her notebook "for campus cam-pus and casual wear a gray flannel jumper frock worn over a red jersey jer-sey blouse, for informal dates a ruffled ruf-fled pinafore-type jumper of velveteen vel-veteen in black or a lush deep tone." For practical wear she decides on a coat sweater in a neutral tone and then adds a turtle-necked black jersey sweater which she will doll up with a gold leather belt and gold bracelets for informal evening wear. For her first fall hat Miss Collegiate Col-legiate is charmed with the Idea of a bulky felt beret, mounted on a hand-knitted headband. Being practical, the college miss likes the idea of wearing her smart black shantung suit, her beloved pastel gingham evening gown, and her pretty black cotton eyelet dance frock in the early warm autumn days. So she is going to pack them in her trunk and take them with her, as they might come in handy during most of the first semester. In her blouse collection Miss Co-ed plans on including several bow-tie types and a stunning blouse she saw while scouting about, made of striped jersey in gay multi-colors. |
