To the Citizen: Intelligent faith in the school as cur greatest foundation foun-dation of our liberties, the protector protec-tor of the achievements of our glorious past, and the promise of fuller life for tomorrow. Program For Week The following program was carried car-ried out very successfully during the week: Monday: Theme, "The Homes of the Pioneers"; piano solo, Veone Jensen; reading, Louise Barton; speaker, C. W. Sorensen. Program prepared by seniors. Tuesday: Theme, "The Schools of the Pioneers"; vocal trio, Rus-sel Rus-sel Stansfleld, Ray Peterson and Macoy Rackman; reading, Maur-ine Maur-ine Lasson; vocal duet. Donna Anderson An-derson and Opal Rigby; speaker, E. A. Day, Sr. Program prepared by juniors. Wednesday: Theme, "Two Centuries Cen-turies of Progress in New World Schools"; selections, "Remember-ence" "Remember-ence" and "Marquita" by high school chorus; speaker, Superintendent Superin-tendent Keith Throndson. Program prepared by social committee. Thursday: Theme: "The Schools and Equality of Opportunity"; speaker, Bishop James F. Ellis. Program prepared by sophomores. At the Parent-Teachers meeting held Thursday evening at 7:30 the speakers were Superintendent A. E. Jones and a board member. Friday: Theme, "The Schools and American Ideals"; speakers, Mrs. Frank Thurston of Manti, L. c (-"hHsrpnsspn PrinciDal Georee F. Olsen and James L. Nielson. The program was prepared by the American Legion and schools and was given at the Elite Theater at 2:00 p. m. The American Legion sponsored a silent drill at 11:00 a. m. For a signal, bells were rung at 10.59. Free transportation was given to the parents of Fairview and Spring City on Wednesday. A great number were in attendance all day and they were given a hearty welcome by the teachers. The programs were carried out to schedule making them very interesting in-teresting as well as beneficial. Taking everything into consideration considera-tion this "Education Week" has been one of the most successful North Sanpete high school has ever had. Special programs concerning education have been arranged and will be given in eveiy church Sunday, Sun-day, November 13th. |
