BLOOD i Roosevelt Elected By Greatest Majority; Thomas Wins Over Smoot; Blood Is Next Governor A great Democratic victory was won at the polls Tuesday with the greatest number voting for Franklin D. Roosevelt for President of the United States of America that has ever been cast at any election held by the nation. - Mr. Roosevelt received 472 electorial votes and more than 16,000,000 popular votes. He will take office on March 4, 1933 as the thirty-second President of the United States. In Utah the dean of the United States Senate, Reed Smoot, was defeated by Dr. Elbert D. Thomas by about 30,000 votes. Henry H. Blood was elected Governor of Utajh by about the same majority over W. W. Seegmiller. In Sanpete County the entire Democratic County ticket was elected by a good majority. In the judicial election there were two judges to be elected and there were only two candidates running so both were elected to office, Judge George Christ ensn of Price and Judge Dilworth Woolley of Manti. As the judiciary is trying to be non-partician The Pyramid will abide by their hopes at this particular time by not mentioning their party politics, although nearly every man, woman and child in the valley knows these distinguished gentlemen gentle-men for many years in the service of their high office. |
