Show Church Observances Mark Close of Bicentennial Celebration The George Washington Bicentennial Bicen-tennial Celebration will be brought to a close on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, in the samt manner In which it began on February 22, with religious services in honor of George Washington In all the churches of America. The United States George Washington Wash-ington Bicentennial Commission estimates that more than 75,000 churches will participate in separate sep-arate Thanksgiving Bicentennial exercises. In many cities and towns, the Bicentennial Commission Commis-sion reports, churches of all denominations de-nominations wiU hold joint comr memorative Thanksgiving Day exercises ex-ercises in honor of the Father of his Country. The reports from the religious societies of America indicate that every church of the land wiU participate par-ticipate in this closing tribute, either by holding separate Bicentennial Bicen-tennial exercises or by joining with the other churches of their community com-munity in a combined celebration. The Bicentennial Celebration has been going on in aU parts of the world for the past nine months. More than 700,000 separate committees, com-mittees, representing the schools and churches as well as civic, fia-ternal fia-ternal and patriotic societies, have been actively engaged in honoring the memoryof George Washington Washing-ton on the Two Hundredth Anniversary Anni-versary of his Birth. Every state, city and town in the United States has participated. Besides, the Celebration Cel-ebration has been carried out in all our territories and dependencies dependen-cies as well as in seventy-eight foreign countries. The records of the United States George Washington Bicentennial Commission indicate that to date more than one million separate Bicentennial programs have been held in all parts of the world. This unprecedented Celebration the greatest tribute ever paid to a national hero wiU come to an official close with observances of simplicity and respect. A united nation will show its reverence and admiration for its founder. The United States George Washington Wash-ington Bicentennial Commission announces that it has prepared special booklets to assist organizations organiz-ations in arranging their Thanksgiving Thanks-giving Day celebration programs. More than 25,000 of these bookleis have already been distributed. In addition the Commission had pie-pared pie-pared a book of sermons made up of contributions from the leading clergymen of the various denominations denomin-ations of America. These Rermon books have been distributed primarily pri-marily to churches in small cities and towns where facilities for research re-search are not abundant.
