Show Working to Amend Liquor Law. The greater part of last week, was spent by City Attorney George Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, in Salt Lake City, where he, in connection with a number of other oth-er City Attorneys, who had been selected se-lected uy the Municipal League Convention, Con-vention, at American Fork, as a committee com-mittee to amend the Liquor Law, and other laws, were engaged in preparing pre-paring a number of bills for amendments amend-ments to the present State Liquor Law. Some twelve or thirteen bills were prepared which will be presented present-ed to the Legislature, for it's action. The purpose of these bills for amendment, amend-ment, are to make the Liquor Laws more definite and certain in respect to the jurisdiction of cities in "Dry Territory," so that the great amount of litigation which has attended the enforcement of the Liquor Statutes, by cities, may be obviated. This committee of said City Attorneys, At-torneys, also prepared bills for the amendment of the Juvenile Court Law, which seems in the past to have been a good deal of a farce, they also proposed some amendments amend-ments increasing the Charter Power of cities in respect to the inforce-ment inforce-ment of the Liquor and Tobacco Law. |
