Show I7c:3s K Gymnastics luu Kim State ChigiipiGnship Weber State College was the site of the 1975 State Gymnastics Gym-nastics Championships. Gymnastics schools from all over the state were represented at the meet. COMPETITION was held for both Class III (beginning) and Class II (intermediate) gymnasts in both junior (12 and under) and senior (13 and over) divisions. At the end of the five hours of competition the Woods Cross gymnastics team had won the State Class III Championship and had finished second in Class II team standings. This is a remarkable result when you consider the T.A.G.S. have been competing as a team since only last September. INDIVIDUAL winners in the Senior Division Class III were Jamie Prather in floor exercise and Karen Eckman in vaulting. Miss Eckman was the Senior Division Ail-Around Ail-Around Champion and Miss Prather finished third. The Class III Junior Division was very competitive with over seventy gymnasts entered. LOCAL GYMNASTS placing plac-ing in the individual events were Kelli Lemon fourth on the bars and beam, eighth on the floor. Kelli was also the Ail-Around Champion with the highest combined score in either the Junior or Senior Divisions. Lana Pearson placed seventh on the beam and vault and finished sixth in the All-Around. MICHELE NELSON took a first place on the balance beam with an 8.2 and placed eighth in the All-Around. Kris Carroll took second place in the floor exercises. Charla Newman placed fifth on the balance beam and tenth in the floor exercise and uneven bars. Becki Hill placed seventh on the bars and eleventh in the All-Around. All-Around. IN THE Class II Division where gymnasts performed compulsory and optional routines rou-tines the T.A.G.S. finished in second place. In the Junior Division Kris Kinyon captured cap-tured first in vault, sixth on the beam, fourth on the uneven bars and fifth on the floor and finished second in the junior division All-Around. All-Around. Kim Turner placed fourth on bars, second on beam and sixth, in the vault. Dana Tin-gey Tin-gey placed sixth in the floor exercise. IN THE Senior Division Leslie Blanpied placed fifth in the vault and Becky Stamos placed sixth on bars, beam and placed first in the floor exercise. Becky's combined scores netted her second in the All-Around competition. The T.A.G.S. Gymnastics Club is coached by Connie Buell, Rick Kley, and Mike Dennison. |
