Show Some Tips On Visiting National Parks In a vacation mood? If so, and if you're thinking of visiting a National Park Service Ser-vice area as part of that vacation, vaca-tion, here are some tips that will help you plan and enjoy your visit: WRITE TO the parks you intend to visit for information about special activities, programs and services. Many park areas have special interpretive in-terpretive programs that are both enjoyable and informative. informa-tive. They're free, of course, but you'll want to know where and when they are offered. of-fered. Plan to visit some of the less well-known park areas in this Region. While Yello-stone, Yello-stone, Glacier, Grand Teton and Rocky Mountain National Na-tional Parks are iantema-tionally iantema-tionally known and immensely im-mensely popular, it is a fact that there are 36 other National Na-tional Park Service areas in the six states that comprise the Rocky Mountain Region! PLAN TO stay longer in a single park area, to get better acquainted. Don't hurry. Upon arriving at your chosen park, stop at the visitor visi-tor center for detailed information infor-mation about local conditions and regulations. You'll learn much more about the park there, too. Uniformed National Na-tional Park Service people are there to help you in every way possible. PLAY IT safe. Be prepared with proper clothing and equipment, and be sure to learn the safety rules of the parks you visit. If you plan to hike or camp in the back-country, back-country, you must obtain a permit at the visitor center or from ranger stations in some of the larger parks. There's no charge. The permit system is intended to prevent overcrowding in the back-country, back-country, and to provide a safety check.
