Show CETA Workers Will Be Let Go By LE ANN BLODGETT County Personnel Director Horace Rose explained the reason why 44 workers hired with CETA money will be cut off on June 30. SINCE EMPLOYMENT in Davis County is up, federal funds to fight unemployment through the Comprehensive Employment Training Act will be cutoff. When unemployment reached over 6.5 percent, the county was entitled to the money. They were able to hire 22 and the various cities hired 37. County employes have averaged $700 a month in salary and benefits. SINCE THE unemployment level dropped for one month, CETA funds will be cut off, causing unemployment again, since Clearfield and Layton's unemployment rate didn't drop, they will be able to keep their 15 employes working. MR. ROSE said he is attempting at-tempting to find ways to keep the 22 county employes absorbed ab-sorbed within the budget, but some may have to be let go. |
