Show Seeks Aid For Wildlife Bills have been introduced in the United States Senate and House to provide additional addi-tional funds for wildlife restoration, res-toration, hunter education and shooting sports, the Wildlife Management Institute Insti-tute reports. The money would come from an 11 percent per-cent tax on component parts of handloaded ammunition. THE BILLS, S.1294 and H.R. 1319, would create an 11 percent manufacturer's excise ex-cise tax on shot, bullets, casings, cas-ings, powder and other handloaded ammunition components. They would require that one half of the revenues from that source and from already established es-tablished taxes on handguns and archery equipment be directed to wildlife restoration restora-tion through the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Program. THE REMAINING one half would be available for hunter education and shooting range construction only. It also would be administered through the Federal Aid program. |
