Show 91-Year Old Pioneer Lady Dances With Son at Silver Wedding Fete in Emery A feature of the silver wedding reception held in the school auditorium audi-torium at Castle Dale last Friday night in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Seely. was the rendition of a waltz dance number by Mr. Seely and his mother. Mrs. Orange Seely. 91-year old pioneer of Emery county. coun-ty. Attending, .the. fete, from Mount Pleasant were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Seely and daughter Ch.esla, Mrs Earl Seely and son Jack, and Mrs Miranda Oman. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Seely were married in Castle Dale January 4, twenty-five years ago, and at that time were the first coup'e to be married in that town who did not give a public dance and reception. Though they were "chivareed" for several days both in Castle Dale and at the home of the bride in Perron, they refused to give a dance. Giving a dance at such times might be the established custom i'i Castle Dale but not in Ferron, th" bride maintained. Consequently, an interesting feature feat-ure of the si'ver wedding celebration celebra-tion was the fact that the weddin" dance was then finally staged, a quarter of a century late. Invitations Invita-tions read: "After 25 years we ar? giving the wedding dance." It was the first silver wedding reception re-ception ever to be held in Castle Dale. In addition to the dance and sup -per. the following program was enjoyed: Duet. "Put On Your Old Grey Bonnet." by Katie Sitterud Neva Johnson and Leah Johnson of Orangeville; vocal solo, "Silver Threads Among the Gold." Evona Kofford; reading, Que Winters; "How To Discipline a Wife," Prin cipal Glen A. Howe: vocal trio. Dora Seelv, Jennie Greaves and E vona Koffcrd: piano duet, bv Mar-jorie, Mar-jorie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Seelv, and Margaruite Cox of Orangeville Or-angeville (Mrs. Seely played tin same piece 22 years ago at a birthday birth-day party held in Mt. Pleasant In honor of the late Joseph Seelyi-reading, Seelyi-reading, Mrs. Rowe; vocal solo. Mrs. Emma Fillmore, accompanied by Dr. W. E. Henci on the zither. Mrs. Cecil Crawford told of th" old-fashinoed costumes and mod"s of travel used at the time of th-' marriage. The couple, she related, spent nine hours going from Castle Dole to Price, 32 miles, by horse and buggv. to catch the train for a six weeks' honevmoo.i to southern south-ern California, and were well smoked smok-ed from lanterns used for heaters |
