Show City Council Approves Flood Control Project American Fork Canyon. Mayor Roberts stated that the U.S. Government would provide moneys for the project except the purchase of rights of way and property easements, funds for which will be furnished by the city corporations. In order to c .nsumate the project pro-ject it has been necessary to establish es-tablish the "North Utah County Conservasy Distinct" which in turn is a part of the overall "Central Utah Project." Water from the Central L'ta.h Project will be allocated al-located only to areas where the Conscrvacy Districts have been set up. Mayor Roberts explained. "Such a fl. od control project has been needed locally for a long time." said the Mayor. He pointed out that the construction of so many new homes near the mouth i of Battle Creek and Grove Creek Canyons makes flood control ab-I ab-I solu'.ely impreative at this time. A decision of far-reaching importance im-portance was reached at, the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove City Council meeting 1 last Monday night. Council members mem-bers went on official record ap- ' proving participation in the government-sponsored North Utah , County Flood Control project. Tiie flood control area thus approved ap-proved includes Lehi, Alpine, American Am-erican Fork and Pleasant Grove. According to Mayor Edward C. I Roberts, the culmination cf the 1 project will be the result of two and one-half years of planning by government engineers, local city - officials and North Utah County 1 Irrigation Companies.
