Show Viking Baseball Team Getting Ready to Play Taking advantage of the few recent re-cent warm days, Coach Guy Hill-man's' Hill-man's' 1957 Viking baseball aspirants aspir-ants have been limbering up for the current campaign. League play will begin officially on Monday, April 8, with five teams scrapping for the Region VII flag Contenders are Lehi, American Am-erican Fork, Pleasant Grove, BY High and Juab. Eight league games have been slated for each team on a home and home arrangement. After Tuesday afternoon's workout, work-out, Coach Hillman released the following list of players who should see considerable action this year: Don Hales, catcher; Paul Gill-man, Gill-man, pitch and . outfield; Gerry Fordham, first base; Lynn Newman, New-man, second base; Kay Giles, shortstop; short-stop; Dan Buckner, pitch and third base; Glen Hales, third base; Johnny Butt, outfield and Lindon Morrill, outfield. Coach Hillman stated that several sev-eral other likely boys are working work-ing out and' the best of these will be added to the squad. Three practice games are on the agenda. A game is scheduled Friday Fri-day at Payson and Orem will play here next Monday and Thursday afternoon. |
