Show Governor Proclaims May 19 As Armed Forces Day in Utah Governor George D. Clyde this week signed and had the great seal of the State of Utah affixed to the first proclamation to- take effect during his administration. The proclamation, pro-clamation, declares Saturday, May 18 as Armed Forces Day. The Governor signed the proclamation procla-mation in the presence of Armed Forces ICepreseiilaUves. Captain F. B. Risser, Naval Supply Dejjot, State Project Officer; Brigadier-General Brigadier-General P. H. R.bey, Hill Air Force Base, Air Project Officer; Colonel H. E. Brooks, Fort Douglas, Doug-las, Army Project Officer; Brigadier Brig-adier General Maurice L. Watts, who attended for Major General Maxwell E. Rich, National Guard Project Officer; and Colonel Charles Char-les L. Banks, Marine Corps Project Pro-ject Officer. Governor Clyde assured the group of his wholehearted cooperation cooper-ation and stated that he had intended in-tended this would be the first official of-ficial proclamation he would sign because he wanted to bestow up-! up-! on this coming Armed Forces Day I all the dignity and importance such an event deserved. He signed the proclamation with a special pen which had been pre-sentej pre-sentej to him by the Western Snow Conference for thirty-two years of outstanding snow surveying survey-ing in the Rocky Mountain Area. In his proclamation Governor Clyde invited "all groups of patriotic patrio-tic citizens, including veterans, women's fraternal, educational, religious, re-ligious, commercial, labor, and industrial in-dustrial organizations, to participate partici-pate actively in the Armed Forces Day Program in their communities, commun-ities, to the end, that we may join in honoring the Armed Forces and in emphasizing the direct relationship relation-ship of each citizfn to the Nation's continuing effort for peace and freedom through the strength of united people." The proclamation was signed following fol-lowing a luncheon meeting- of the Utah post and stati'"n commanders at the Naval Supply Depot, Clearfield. Clear-field.
