Show THE MAYOR ! REPORTS "A traffic stop-and-go light at the intersection of Third East, Seventh Sev-enth South and Highway 91 seems more favorable day by day," said Mayor Edward C. Roberts Wednesday Wed-nesday morning. A month ago city officials met with the State Road Engineers and made an earnest request re-quest for the establishment of the light. Three weeks ago State Road officials of-ficials made a traffic count at the intersection but no report from them has been received to date, the Mayor stated. However, Coun-cilmen Coun-cilmen Eldon Johnson, S. Chris-tensen Chris-tensen and John Green were in Salt Lake City Wednesday for a followup visit with State Road officials. of-ficials. The Mayor stated that in anticipation antic-ipation of the establishment of the establishment of the light, Third East and Seventh South will be adequately surfaced this fall. "The light will be established," said Mayor Roberts, "if we have to employ the efforts of organized groups and political pressure." Parley Neely, representing- the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, will meet with the City Council on Monday, Nov. 5, at 8:30 p.m. The purpose of Mr. Neely's visit is to familiarize city officials regarding regard-ing the opportunities that will come as a result of the construction construc-tion of the Central Utah Reclamation Reclama-tion Project. All interested citizens citi-zens are invited to attend and hear Mr. Neely's discussion. "We don't want to miss out on any opportunities," op-portunities," Mayor Roberts emphasized. em-phasized. City officials are currently receiving re-ceiving complaints from some home owners of Pleasant Grove respecting respect-ing "high" water and sewer bills. Mayor Roberts stated that a complete com-plete survey had recently been made of sewer and water rates in the other cities of North Utah County. The Pleasant Grove minimum mini-mum monthly water rate of $1.00 is the lowest of any northend city, the survey revealed. American Fork has a minimum monthly water wat-er rate of $1.50 and Orem charges a $3.00 month minimum. Sewer rates in Orem are $3.00 per month and American Pork charges $2.25. The monthly sewer rate here is $2.50, just 25 cents more than the lowest rate charged in North Utah County. "We do not feel that the rates charged in Pleasant Grove for water wat-er and sewer service are out of line; and they cannot be lowered consistently with the type of service ser-vice we are now providing," the Mayor concluded. |
