Show ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS Miss Margaret Johnson, Intermediate Inter-mediate Grade Supervisor in Alpine Al-pine District Schools, is currently conducting an "Art Workshop" at Central School. Miss Johnson is meeting the teachers after school in a program of art teaching improvement. im-provement. ESN The PTA membership drive among parents of the Central School children is now practically complete. The name of the winning room in the drive will be announced announ-ced when the students return to school next Tuesday. ESN The Alpine District Board ' of Education has set Friday November Novem-ber 9 as the date for the dedication dedic-ation of the new Central School addition. The time and complete program of ceremonies will be announced an-nounced later. ESN Students of the Central School Second grade made a study visit to the Pleasant Grove Fire department depart-ment on October 9. They, were accompanied by Second grade teachers Daisy Nielson, Jennie Gleason, Deane Paulson and Training Train-ing teacher Sandra Jean Butler. ESN Four Senior students from the Department of Education at BYU are currently training one-half day each at the Central School. They are: Cooleen Cook, Kindergarten; Barbara Budge, First grade; Sandra San-dra Jean Butler, Second Grade; and Lois J. Gumey, Third grade. ESN Individual and room group pictures pic-tures were taken at Grovecrest School Tuesday. What is perhaps a record . was established. Only two students failed to' have their pictures taken because of absence. ESN "Back to School Night" last Wednesday at Grovecrest was a marked success in the opinion of both parents and teachers. Parents and teaching personnel met in the auditorium at 7:30 for a spirited PTA meeting. Following the general session the parents visited the rooms of their respect-children, respect-children, where a discussion of the daily program and plans for the remainder of the year was held. Refreshments and a short social hour culminated the evening's activities. act-ivities. Gordon Walker's room was awarded a book for having the largest percentage of parents present. The total was 60 per cent. |
