Show i "Certified Mail" Service Announced By Postmaster Postmaster Ray Mills announced announ-ced Wednesday morning that a new service will be available at the local post office, effective June 7. The new service is known as "Certified Mail," and will be used for non-valuable items for-, merly sent as Registered Mail, at the minimum fee. The cost of the new service will be 15 cents plus postage, with an additional charge of 7 cents when a return receipt is desired. Regular registered: service for valuable mail will still be provided, provid-ed, Mr. Mills explained. The Postmaster also stated that bids will be received until 6:00 p. m. Saturday May 28, for the fur-nislung fur-nislung of a rental vehicle for the Mounted Route. The vehicle will be in use approximately five hours and fifteen minutes each d&y. Owner of the vehicle will be required re-quired to furnish gas and oil and maintenance. Mr. Mills also stated that parents par-ents should caution their children against playing arourid the mail boxes on the Rural and Mounted Routes. He said the children often run out to get the mail and endanger en-danger their lives due to the hazard haz-ard of traffic on the highways and streets. |
