Show Saturday Is "Poppy Day" in Pleasant Grove, Chairman Says Saturday May 28 will be "Poppy Day" in Pleasant Grove, according accord-ing to Emily Pederson, Chairman of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 70 Committee. In making- her plea for the cooperation co-operation of the people of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, Mrs. Pederson quoted from a letter recently received from Bess Lainson, National Auxiliary Aux-iliary President as follows: "They say in France that where the greatest heroism was shown on the battlefield, there the poppies pop-pies bloom in greatest profusion. Hoie in America we know that where the spirit of patrioitism burns most brightly, there poppies pop-pies are worn in greatest numbers. num-bers. "It should be a matter of community com-munity pride to have poppies worn over every heart on Poppy Day. Surely no city of town in America is willing to concede that its pat- I ritism is anything less than the highest. Poppies glowing brightly on every lapel on Poppy Day will give procf that your town is one which remembers and is grateful for the sacrifices made in America's Ameri-ca's defense. "How many poppies are worn in your town depends to a largo degiee upon how many members of your unit servo as Poppy Day volunteers. With Auxiliary volunteers volun-teers offering our poppies on every corner, every shopping center and every place where people pass there will be very few p-rsons without poppies by the end of the day. You can help make it a day of patriotic inspiration for your community and for America. If you love America and honor thos who have died for America, be out with ycur basket of poppies pop-pies on Poppy Day." |
