Junior High Takes First; Seniors Second Place at Alpine Day Junior and Senior High School athletes of Pleasant Grove did themselves proud at Alpine Day activities held at Lehi last. Friday. The Junior High track team walked walk-ed off with first place honors by a decisive margin; and 1 he Senior Sen-ior High aggregation finished a strong second behind the Tigers of Lincoln High School. Wayne Ash, Senior High strong man, surprised sur-prised no one when he copped three first places and broke the District record in the shot with a heave of 50 feet, 3 inches. Athletes who contributed to the 59 points scored by the Senior High Viking's are as follows: Hal Lewis. Bill Page and Jay Newman New-man first, third and fifth in the 100; Lewis, Page and Newman first, second and third in the 220; Bill Trimble, fourth in the 440; Jack Wadley and Grant Leonard, fourth- and fifth in the SS0; Ver-don Ver-don Walker, fifth in the mile. Page, Trimble, Merrill, Lewis, secon din the 880 relay; Wayne Ash,, first in the shot, discuss and pole vault; Jim Thornton, first in the javelin; Richard Peterson, third in the pole vault. DeWayne Iverson tied for second sec-ond in the high jump and Bill Trimbe, third in the broad jump. The Junior High boys took first place going away, with the following boys scoring heavily in points: Paul Allen, Robert Walker, and. Bruce Gray, first, second and third in the 60 yard. Kay Giles and Gene Ash, second and fourth in the shot; Allen, Walker and Gray, first, second and third! in the 100; Paul Allen, Jimmy Dan-klef Dan-klef and Dennis Chomiak, first, second and fifth in the high jump; Lew Devereax and Paul Gillman, first and fifth in the pole vault. Craig Smith and Russell Gines, first and fourth in the 440; Robert Walker and Terry Holman, first and third in the broad jump; Lowell Smith, first in the 880; Russell Gines,, Jim Danklef, Robert Rob-ert Walker and Paul Allen, first in the medley relay (new record) and Terry Holman, Kay Richins, Kay Giles and Buce Gray, third in the 440 relay.
