Show i'i ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS Dance Director Earl A. Beck of Alpine District began the year's program of dance instruction at Central School this week. The activity ac-tivity is planned far Fifth and Sixth grade students on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. The boys and girls will be taugtit in five separate groups. ESN At the PTA meeting held at Central School on (the evening of Sept. 26, definite steps were taken toward a better parent-teacher relationship. Under the direction of program chairman Mrs. John Fu-gal, Fu-gal, the parents were divided into small discussion groups to discuss and plan ways in which the parents par-ents could understand the teaching teach-ing methods of the teachers. In this way it is hoped parents may be able to assist the teachers in a better way. ESN At the same Central School PTA meeting Mr. Ludlow's Fourth Grade students won the monthly prize for having 65 per cent of their parents present at the meeting. meet-ing. ESN Central School Fifth Graders are making and "educational and informative" trip to Timpanogos Cave on Thursday, Oct. 3. They will be accompanied by their teachers tea-chers Herbert Gilbert, Ben Homer and Iowa Hall. In addition to a guided tour of the Cave, lectures will be given by Superintendent Thomas Walker and Forest Ranger Jerry Hill. ESN Cube steaks and other delicious viands were on the menu at the Central School faculty party enjoyed en-joyed in American Fork Canyon last Tuesday evening. Chairmen of the social event were Mrs. Ora Thome, Mrs. Ella Jackson iand Mi's. Jennie Allred. . ESN On Friday, Sept. 27 a birthday party was held at Grovecrest School for all students who were born in September. The lunch room ladies prepared special refreshments, re-freshments, including a birthday cake. Mrs. Inez Meservy was chairman of the affair. ESN A successful "Back to School Night" was enjoyed at Grovecrest School last Thursday night. Parents Par-ents who were unable to attend may receive a copy of the school's Calendar of Events by visiting (the school at the first favorable opportunity. op-portunity. ESN Individual piotures are being taken of all students at Grovecrest Grove-crest School during the current week. ESN Eye tests have been completed at Grovecrest School. The examinations exam-inations were conducted by the classroom teachers, under the direction dir-ection of Mrs. Betty Mikesell, school nurse. |
