Publisher A. B. Gibson, Kay Jacobs, Mayor Ed Roberts, and Junius A. West received cheese gifts, while Merrill N. Warnick, (front) toured the county with the Princesses. Dairy Princesses Pay Visit to Pleasant Grove !n interest of Utah Dairy Products; Give Cheese Pleasant Grove was visited by Royalty last Monday. Paying the annual visit to this community were Utah Dairy Princess Marilyn Andea-son of Lehi and attendants Carol Ralphs of Ferron and Deon Fuhriman of Providence. Heading the party were Harold Peterson, chairman of the October Utah Cheese Festival and Men-ill N. Warnick, past president of the American Dairy Association. Mr. Warnick accompanied the group through Utah County. While in Pleasant Grove the Dairy Queen and her attendants presented bricks of Utah cheese to Mayor Edward C. Roberts and local bankers and the publisher. Thfy also visited local grocery stores and posted placards advertising adver-tising the various brands of Utah dairy products. The party fcoui-ed the intermoun- . tain ai-ea from Logan, Utah to Las Vegas, Nevada, visiting communities commun-ities along highways 91 and 89, Mr. Warnick stated. The importance of the dairy industry in-dustry in Utah is revealed by a series of facts compiled by the Utah County Extension Service, Provo, Utah. Some of the most salient of these facts are as follows fol-lows : Number of full or part dairy farms in Utah, 13.000; number of cows on Utah farms, 101,000; cash receipts from sale of Utah dairy products $26,853,000; income from dairying in Utah County, $3,316,-000 $3,316,-000 and people employed in the 84 modern dairy plants in Utah, 3,000. In fact more than 20 pel-cent pel-cent of the agricultural income in Utah comes from dairy products. |
