VIKINGS OPEN DELAYED LEAGUE PLAY FRIDAY NIGHT AGAINST UINTAH UTES If the flu bug cooperates, league play, as far as the Vikings are concerned, will open Friday night, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. The game will pit the Alger Boys against the LTinta Utes. who also are unbeaten in football this season. The game is scheduled under the lights at the PG ball park. The so far victorious Utes, : coached by Leo Conk, could make trouble for the flu-ravaged Vikings. Vik-ings. The Uinta team is the largest lar-gest prep squad in the state and has shown strength this year in defeating North Sanpete (practice) (prac-tice) 27 to 6 and BY High (league) 20 to 0. To say that the local team will go into the game under par is put- ting it mildly. No practice whatever what-ever was held last week; and at Monday night's session only 27 squad members out of 33 were suited up for the drill. "Our only hope is our depth in most key positions," said Coach Alger Tuesday Tues-day afternoon. He explained that he intended to substitute freely throughout the game, in order to give his flu-weakened players a chance for n;me rest, i The way things look now, the i Vikings and the American Fork Cavemen will make up their postponed post-poned game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Wednes-day, Oct. 9 on the Cavemen's field. The game has been moved up from Friday to Wednesday because of the UEA convention scheduled for Salt Lake City on Oct. 10, 11, and 12. |
