Show 1 National American Legion Head Urges National Unity Following is a letter sent by John Gleason Jr. National American Ameri-can Legion Commander: My Fellow Americans: I have just returned from a brief visit to Europe as a member mem-ber of .the "Cruise for Freedom," with a firm conviction of the need for a dramatic demonstration of National Unity by the American people in the face of the new Communistic challenge. Neutral and friendly nations are being blackmailed by the Kremlin Krem-lin exploitation!! of the Sputniks. On the eve of Veterans Day, which falls on Monday, Nov. 11, there is a great need to remind the entire world, friend, enemy and neutral, that 'the citizens of the United States will stand together in the face of common danger. The American community can serve as a rallying point for a great, new National Unity demonstration. dem-onstration. Through the press, I am voicing an appeal to all citizens, urging a loyal observance of Veterans Day, in order to express our faith in America. The display of the American Flag over our homes and public buildings should be a visible reaffirmation re-affirmation of our love of country. Emphasis should also be given by the ringing of bells and the offering of silent prayers for peace and unity, at 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 11. Sincerely, JOHN GLEASON, JR.
