Show KAROLYN SWENSON Karoiyn Swenson Wins Trip to 4-H Club Congress Two Utah County 4-H club members have won all-expense paid trips to the 36th Annual 4-H National Na-tional Club Congress slated the 1st to the 5th at the Conrad Hilton Hil-ton Hotel in Chicago, according to Jenniev J. Poulson, County Home Agent and John J. Barnard, Assistant As-sistant County Agent. They will make this trip to the Club Congress Con-gress in company with twenty other oth-er 4-H club members from other parts of the state, who have also won trips. Two Utah County youths were state winners in the National Awards program . Miss Karoiyn Swenson, frozen foods winner, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. Wamick Swenson of Pleasant Grove. She has completed eight years of club work with projects pro-jects in food preservation, foods, clothins-. leadership, entomologv. and gardening. In Karolyn's eight years of club work she has prepared pre-pared 731 meals and 1,143 separate separ-ate dishes. She has baked 236 dozen doz-en products, canned 2,278 quarts of fruits and vegetables and frozen fro-zen 1,709 pounds of food. Her leader lead-er has been Mrs. Merrill N. Warn-ick. Warn-ick. and the Whirlpool-Seeger Corporation Cor-poration is sponsoring her trip. Karoiyn has won the following 4-H Awards and Recognitions. 1951 received a state blue ribbon rib-bon on hot pads; 1952-1953 re-reived re-reived a blue ribbon at the State Fair on record books; 1954 received re-ceived a blue ribbon award for the meal preparation contest. 1955, 1956, 1 957 received blue ribbon each year for Kerr Canning Can-ning contest. 1956 was named state winner in the team bread demonstration contest, "Fancy Bread for Fancy Entertaining" and was awarded a S50 bond. 1957 won a blue ribbon at the State Fair with a demonstration "Correct methods of Modern Canning." Can-ning." Was award"d a silver medal at the State Fair in H.me Economics Econom-ics Judging contest. Karnlyn has been a leader of a 1-H girls' club for the past three years. Each year the girls have entered articles at the State Fair and have won blue awards. This year the club entered a group exhibit ex-hibit and won blue ribbons. Miss Marian Tuckett, gardening garden-ing winner, is from Spanish Fork. Helen Marie Atwood, state recreation rec-reation winner, will receive a pen and pencil set. Jay West, state achievement winner, will receive a certificate from the Ford Motor Co. |
