Legion Don Mack Dalton, veteran of World War I, and well-known Utah Valley atterney, was elected Commander Com-mander of Pleasant Grove Post 70 American Legion at a meeting held last Thursday night. The meeting and annual election was under the direction of retiring Post Commander Com-mander Glenn Matthews. Elected at the same time were J. Milton Adamson, first vice commander; Burton H. Adams, second sec-ond vice commander; Kai'l Banks, adjutant and historian; William C. Smith, chaplain; Robert Cornaby, service officer iand Glen Matthews, sergeant at aims. The newly eleoted officers will be installed at the annual Post 70 and Auxiliary Veterans Day dinner din-ner scheduled for Monday, Nov. 11 at the Alpine Villa Grill. District IV Commander Viron Washburn will conduct the installation ceremonies. cere-monies. Commander Dalton was born in Manassa, Colorado, the son of John C. and Hannah Daphne Smith Dalton. Dal-ton. He has lived progressively in Colorado, Salt Lake City, Capetown, Cape-town, South Africa and Pleasant Grove. He graduated from elementary school and the San Luis Stake Academy at Manassa. He received a Bachelor of Law degree from the University cf Utah in 1923 and upon graduation was admitted to practice law before Utah and United Un-ited States Courts. Mr. Dalton has had a wide variety var-iety of experiences, including professional pro-fessional boxing, service as President Presi-dent of the South African LDS Mission, service in the Republican Party organization, travel around the world and service in Europe in the AEF during World War I. In 1917 Mr. Dalton married the former Geneve Jorgensen. The couple have three children, Gerald Ger-ald J. Dalton, George Edward Dalton Dal-ton and Mrs. Stanford K. (Lena Geneve) Johns. |
