Show VIKINGS DROP FIRST LEAGUE GAME TO BY HIGH FRIDAY 20-6 Maybe they're allergic to Cats At any rate the Pleasant Grove Vikings were severely scratched again Friday night. Smarting from a 37-0 mauling by the Orem Tigers on Sept. 18, the PG boys were clawed by the BY High Wildcats 20 to 6 in a football game played last Friday night at BYU stadium. The game was the opener of league play for both teams. It was the third straight loss for Coach Jim Ditty's 19r9 team; but Friday night's game had at least one bright spot. The Vikings Vik-ings were able to score against BY High which was not true in their previous two practice games. The lone PG touchdown came in the second canto, when a pass to Gerald Chipman was good to the Wildcat 12. Walker picked up gains of 3 and 5 yards and then John Lott took a pass from Steve Walker and romped into the end zone for the six-pointer. Charlie Buckner's coiiv rsion kick was wide. BY High scored in the first, third and fourth quarters and made two conversions for their total of 20 points. The Wildcats Wild-cats attack was carried by Bert Mitchell, Gary Bennett, Bob Martin Mar-tin and Dennie Jones. Other Region VII games resulted re-sulted in wins for Uintah and American Fork. The UU'S from Vernal beat Lehi 12 to 0 and the American Fork Cavemen won from Union 20 to 6. No league games were on tap for Region VII teams this we:k. However the Vikings traveled to Payson for a practice tilt with the Lions. The game was s t for 7 p.m. Wednesday but no results re-sults were available at press time. |
