Show Parties Plara for Primaries; CanclsdaSes Are Needed If the citizens of Pleasant Grove are to enjoy the services of a full contingent of able and representative City Council members mem-bers in 1960 and 1962, the political poli-tical wheels must get in motion at once. To date not much interest has been displayed by the man on the street, since no definite planks Have been announced by either of the two political parties. Activity should be expected to steam up in the next few days since nominating primaries are in the immediate offing. Certainly Certain-ly the numerous and vital problems prob-lems confronting ithe city government govern-ment of Pleasant Grove demand the active interest of all citizens. As announced in last week's Review, membership of the Peoples Peo-ples party will meet Thursday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. in the city hall tmder the chairmanship of W. G. Klemm. The Citizens party have slated slat-ed their primary meeting for Tuesday, October 13 at 8 p.m. also in the city hall, according to chairman Dr. Darrell C. Jensen. Jen-sen. The meetings will be held to nominate candidates for the three positions on the city council which will become vacant on Dec. 31. Councilmen whose terms expire ex-pire on that date are John S. Green, Lewis J. Harmer and Eldon Johnson. Neither of the incumbent City Councilmen has as yet announced announ-ced officially whether or not he intends to become candidates to succeed himself. An urgent appeal was voiced Tuesday by the 'chairmen of both political parties for citizens to attend the nominating primaries and actively support the democratic demo-cratic process in this commun-ity. |
