Show Lions Club Hears District Governor At Last Meeting The Pleasant Grove Lions Club met Sept. 19 for their annual 100 per cent attendance night. Pins were awarded nine Lion members for having had perfect attendance for the year. Those receiving the award pins were Neils Fugal, past president; S. A. Kirk, H. E. Bradley, Brad-ley, Ray Mills, C. A. Rasmussen, A. J. Rogers, Wallace M. Saling, Edwin I. Taylor, and Junius A. West. The meeting with ladies as special spec-ial guests, was under the direction of Neils Fugal, and Ertmann Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, attendance committee. Speakers of theevening were Lion Marion Halliday, District Governor of 28-A, Clell Jackson, Deputy District Dis-trict Governor, and Francis Mor-tensen, Mor-tensen, zone chairman. Speaking on Dionism and its worth to Lion members and the communities in which they live, Lion Halliday said, "One man working with you, is worth ten men working for you." He stated that Lions Clubs are organized for activity and civic improvement, and he challenged the members to continue working and accomplishing accomplish-ing things for the betterment of the community. In speaking of the over-all strength of Lionism and its far reaching effects on the communities commun-ities in the nation, Mr. Mortensen said, "There is no force in the world today that is doing so much for peace, except the church, and the government." Presiding over the meeting, Lion George Jaynes paid tribute to the members for the successful conclusion con-clusion of the Annual Community Fair, which the Lions sponsor each year. Tribute was paid to Neils Fugal, Community Fair chairman. He responded and acknowledged support of the members and of the people in the community for fine support. |
