BEING EARNEST Two of the outstanding cast for Oscar Wilde's play, "The Importance of Being Earnest," are Arthur Butler, from England, and Mary Dawson from Layton, Utah. The play is slated for the Timpanogos Stake House next Thursday and Friday. "Importance of Being Earnest" Scheduled for Next Thursday And Friday in Timp Stake House The Brigham Young University drama department will present a play in three acts "The Importance Impor-tance of Being Earnest," by Oscar Wilde, in the Timpanogos Stake House on the evenings of Wednesday Wednes-day and Thursday, April 13 and 14. Curtain time is set for 8 p.m. The play has been critically described de-scribed as the most perfect play ever written, and certainly is Mr. Wilde's best work. The plot is woven wov-en around the humorous results of the hero of the story "inventing" a younger brother named Earnest, as an alibi for evading demands upon his tjme. Lead male roles are taken by Arthur Butler, talented and versatile ver-satile actor from England, and Harold Oaks. The role of Cecily is played by Mary Dawson of Lay-ton, Lay-ton, Utah. She has appeared previously pre-viously in BYU presentations, among them "Taming of the Shrew." Lorna Erickson is sharing the role of Lady Bracknell with JoAnn Leonard. Miss Erickson is equally prominent in the Provo area ar-ea for her outstanding vocal renditions. rendi-tions. Beautiful and unique costumes have been designed under the direction dir-ection of Professor Winnifred Bowers, Bow-ers, a professional costumer. According to Dr. Dael J. Woodbury, Wood-bury, tour manager, the play is presented at cost to the sponsoring organization for fund-raising purposes. pur-poses. The production is being sponsored locally by the Pleasant Grove Seminary as a means of raising funds for the purchase of a piano for the new Seminary classroom. class-room.
