Friday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Wuson Cunningham and daughter, Carol, visited in Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Larsen. Mra. Jennie Cunningham who has bee nlivlng in Provo is spending this week at her home in American For It. I Mr. and Mrs. Jed Mercer had as their Sunday dinner guests Mr. and Mrs. John S. Evans of Salt Lake City. Mr. Evans is the former Utah county sheriff, at present acting as chairman of the state engineering engineer-ing commission. i Mrs. R. L. Ashby and Mrs. C. A. Grant, members of the local libarry board, and Mi's. Lyle Grant, city librarian, spent last Thursday in Salt Lake on business pertaining to the American Fork library. Their time was spent mainly in the selecting select-ing and purchasing of a number of new books. Mr. Fred Nielsen has accepted a civil service job with the government, govern-ment, having left two weeks ago for Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, where he is attending a mechanized school for a three-month period. On his return he will be stationed at Camp Williams as a mechanical instructor. Mr. John Jacklin, his daughter, Alice, Miss Martha Brown, Mrs. Hannah Pectol and Mrs. George F. Shelley journeyed to Murray Wednesday to attend funeral services serv-ices of their uncle, Noble Jacklin, who passed away Saturday, April 25. Noble Jacklin was a resident in American Fork many years ago. The G. A. club will meet next Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Albert Tregaskis. At their meeting meet-ing last week club members finished packing boxes for the boys in the service whose mothers are in the G. A. club. Four boxes were packed J with fruit cakes and gum, and were mailed to the following boys: Lloyd Duckworth, Denver, Colo., son of Mr. and Mrs. John Duckworth; Lynn Nilsson, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, son of Mr. and Mi's. Arthur Nilsson; Jack Bunten, San Francisco, son f of Mi-, and Mrs. Jack Bunten; Ernest Lloyd, San Francisco, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lloyd. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Walker of Salt Lake spent Sunday in American Ameri-can Fork visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse M. Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Earl S. Greenwood had as their guest over the week-end Mrs. Alice G. Smith, Mr. Greenwood's Green-wood's sister from Salt Lake. Mrs. Ella Cox and Mrs. Jack Spencer of Salt Lake City were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kirkwood on Sunday. Officers and teachers of the , Fourth ward Relief Society will meet Monday evening at 8 o'clock at the home of Leila Abel in their regular preparation meeting. Mrs. Ivy Steele, president of the Relief society, announces that during the past week the Fourth ward ladies have made six quilts and all are completed com-pleted ready for delivery. The Thimble club met Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Lucile Walker for an evening of sewing. Tom Walker added an interesting interval when he showed his colored slides of canyon scenes to the ladies. A delicious luncheon was served to the following guests by the hostess: i Reva Moyle, LaPriel Brown, Leila I Abel, Leona Larsen, Mayme Baker, I Inez McDonald, Electa Monson, Fan-' Fan-' ny Shelley, and Zora Zabriskie. Among those from American Fork who attended the final concert of the Brigham Young University Community Concert programs, featuring feat-uring the famous soprano, Dorothy Maynor, Wednesday evening in Provo Pro-vo were the following: Edith Thornton, Thorn-ton, Helen Parker, Clyde P. Crooks-ton, Crooks-ton, Velma Shelley, Dr. and Mrs. G. S. Richards, Mildred Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford E. Young, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taylor and Miriam Young. A dinner and theatre party honoring honor-ing Mr. Leo Wootton and Mr. Max Huggard prior -to their departure for the service, was enjoyed Saturday night by the following couples: Mr. and Mrs. Darryl Hansen, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wootton, Mr. and Mrs. Max Huggard, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Evans and Miss Vilate Boley and Mr. .lames McAllister. The delicious dinner was served at the Leo Wootton Woot-ton home. Leo is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wootton and Max is the son of Mrs. Mattie Huggard. Both must be in Fort Douglas by to-day (Friday). Wednesday afternoon and evening eve-ning Mrs. Viola Chipman was honored hon-ored at a birthday social and supper sup-per by her sisters and sisters-in-law at her home. The following were present and enjoyed a happy time together: Mrs. Eliza Peters, Mrs. Ann C. Hansen, Mrs. Edith Fox of Lehi, Mrs. LaRee Van Wagoner, Mrs. Fern Chipman, Mrs. Ora Chip-man, Chip-man, Mrs. Grace Chipman and the honored guest. Monday afternoon friends and relatives from Spanish Fork feted Viola for her birthday anniversary at her home. Feality club members and special guests were entertained Wednesday afternoon in Lehi at the home of Mrs. Ralph Davis. Her home was lovely with a profusion of varicolored vari-colored tulips. The hostess served luncheon to her guests and the remainder re-mainder of the afternoon was spent playing contract bridge. Invited guests were: Mrs. D. R. Mitchell, Mrs. Elmo Eddington, Mrs. Byron Whipple and Mrs. A. W. Davis. High score prize was awarded to Mrs. Neldon Varney, guest prize, to Mrs. Elmo Eddington and consolation consola-tion prize to Mrs. Henry Chipman. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Robinson and friends and relatives arranged a lovely dinner party Wednesday night at the home of Bishop and Mrs. E. J. Seastrand honoring Marion Robinson, Rob-inson, Jr., who leaves to-day (Friday) (Fri-day) for service in the U. S. army. Special guests for the occasion were: Ivan Evans, who also leaves to-day for service; Miss Marian Patrick of Spanish Fork; Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Noyes; Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson who have sons in the service; and Mrs. Lucious Laudie of Orem whose son wDl leave to-day for service. Others present to enjoy the evening eve-ning of games, dinner, and comments com-ments carried out in a national theme were the following: Mr. and Mrs. Marion Robinson, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Nate Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. West Jacobs, Mary Robinson, Jane Robinson, Rob-inson, Fabina Robinson Allen, Alice Dunkley, Miss Jean Webb of Ogden and Bishop and Mrs. Seastrand. Mrs. K. E. Armstrong and son, Ronnie, of Long Beach, Cal., arrived last Thursday night in American Fork to visit for a month with Mrs. Armstrong's mother, Mrs. G. A. Anderson. The hostess, her daughters, Mary and Mrs. Armstrong, and their grandmother, Mrs. Ole Anderson of Pleasant Grove, spent Sunday in Ogden visiting Mrs. Anderson's other daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Siddaway, and Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Armstrong. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Greenwood motored to Salt Lake on Sunday to see Mrs. Greenwood's sister, Mrs. R. P. Davis, who is ill. They also visited vis-ited with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Grant On their way home Sunday evening eve-ning they called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond H. Clayton in Midvale and spent a short time visiting there. The Claytons are the parents of Delbert Greenwood's wife. x Attending funeral services of Mrs. Virginia Kimball Little in Salt Lake Saturday afternoon were tire following fol-lowing from American Fork: Mrs. Ann Hansen, Mrs. Grace Chipman, Mrs. Viola Chipman, Mrs. Lola Carson, Car-son, Mrs. Edith Fox of Lehi, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Chipman, Delbert Ray Chipman, Charles Little, Mrs. Edith Monson and Mrs. Inez McDonald. Mc-Donald. Mrs. Little, the deceased, was the wife of Artemus E. Little who for many years lived in American Fork with the Delbert Chipmans. Mr. Little is the nephew of Mrs. Edith Monson and Mrs. Ora Chipman. Mrs. Little passed away Wednesday, Wednes-day, April 22. from complications following childbirth. Mr. and Mrs. Irving L. Pratt celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary anni-versary Wednesday, April 29, at their home. During the day the following children and grand-children of the happy couple joined with them in the festive occasion: Almeda Pratt and her daughter, Betty; Weston Pratt and his three sons, Weston Jr., Ralph and Glen; Mr. and Mrs. Max Pratt and children, chil-dren, Dona and Sherald; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Pratt and sons, LeRoy and Sherman, and daughter, Barbara Dale, of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. George Brown, their sons, Donald and George Irving, and their daughter, Pauline, all of Murray; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Briggs, their son, Myron, and their daughter, Carol Ann; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pratt and tiny baby daughter.
