Show National Guard Unit To Be Redesignated As A Service Battery A Federal inspection of the Pleasant Grove unit of the Utah National Guard will be held at the armory Monday-evening Monday-evening at 7:30 o'clock, according to First Lieutenant Eleroy West, commanding officer of the unit. The public is cordially invited to attend. Purpose of the inspection is to redesignate the unit, converting it from a medical detachment detach-ment to a service battery of the Second Sec-ond Battalion, 222d Field Artillery, and will be commanded by three officers, one captain and two first lieutenants. First Lieutenant West will be in command, with First Lieutenant Richard W. Gilchrist, who will be transferred from Lehi, in charge of the ammunition train. Colonel H. Burr Parker, regular army instructor for the Utah National Na-tional Guard, will inspect the unit for Federal recognition. Regimental officers are expected to be in attendance. The unit will have a strength of 26 men. An induction day, which has been tentatively set for March 3 for the Utah National Guard, the unit will go on a peace strength of 26 men. On induction day, which, date, the unit is anxious to enlist, on an inactive basis, up to this number num-ber (92). Young men interested in enlisting are invited to make Inquiries In-quiries from the local officers. The 92 men enlisted on an inactive basis will be inducted with the other guardsmen, and will go to Camp San Luis Obispo for a year's training. The unit will be at home station for ten days following induction. |
