Show Am. Fork Locals Mr. and Mrs. Pi-ank Shafter of Binliam, visited Tuesday at the home of Mr. Shafter's sisters, Mrs. C. A. Grant and Miss Lillie Shafter. I Mrs. Spencer Taylor and baty of Salt Lake City, were Monday visitors at the home of Mrs. M. L. Baird. Mrs. D. R. Norton of Provo, spent Sunday and Monday in American Fork at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gaisford. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Howes returned to American Fork Friday after spending two weeks in Salt Lake City, where Mr- Howes underwent an operation and was confined at the L- D- S. hospital. Mrs. Neldon Birk and two children chil-dren left Thursday for Leadville, Colorado, where she and Mr. Birk will make their home. The two oldest old-est children will remain in American Amer-ican Fork until the close of school this spring. The ladies of the Community Church enjoyed a kensington at the home of Mrs. Charles LaFleur last Thursday afternoon. Mrs. J. L. Mower gave an interesting talk on water softeners. Lunch was served by the hostess. Members -of the Stake Presidency, High Council, Bishoprics and all I stake organization workers enjoyed I a dinner and social Thursday eve- ' ning in the amusement hall of the tabernacle. George Albert Smith of the Council of the Twelve Apostles, was the guest speaker. Dancing ; followed the dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Booth entertained enter-tained at a theatre party Tuesday evening after which refreshments were served at the Booth home. The guests were Messrs. and Mesdames Kenneth Noyes, "Culver Anderson, DeVere Wootton, Leo Nelson, Grant Ingersoll and Walter B. Devey. The Contract Bridge club were guests of Mrs- Mark Coddington at her home Thursday afternoon, Mrs-David Mrs-David Taylor winning the high score prize. Club members are Mesdames Leo Meredith, Glen Sykes, James Chadwick, M. L. Baird, David Taylor, Tay-lor, Stanford Briggs, E. H. Devey and Mrs. Coddington. Miss Zola Grant was, a special guest. Mrs. W- R-i Halliday and Mrs. West Hammond entertained the members of the Ladies Literary club at the home of Mrs. Halliday Thursday afternoon. Mrs. George S. Ballif read a three act play "Peace On Earth" and Mrs. Rudolph Clark talked on the "Art of Raising Flowers." Flow-ers." The election of officers for the coming year was made and will be announced next week. Mrs. E. N. Wagstaff spent the past week-end in Salt Lake City at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, daugh-ter, Mr. and Mrs- George Watts- She , aLso visited her grandson, Kenneth Haslem, and family. Mrs. S. T. Shelley spent Friday of last week ni Pleasant Grove at the home of her sister, Mrs. J. Sanford Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Monson had as their Sunday dinner guests, Mrs. Emma C. Smith and Judge Daniel Harrington of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Vem Beck and two children returned last Sunday from a trip to St. George where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jay Beck who also accompanied ac-companied them on a trip to Boulder Boul-der Dam. Mrs. Eldon Chipman and Mrs. M. L. Baird attended a bridge luncheon in Salt Lake Saturday at the home of Mrs. Elvin Lowry. Set aside March 17th for the big Prize Dance given by the Relief Society. ' adv. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Searle and family of Burley, Idaho, visited the past week-end in American Fork at the home of Mr. Searle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Searle. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Lott and son left Thursday for their home in. Philadelphia. Mrs. Lott has visited for the past three months in American Amer-ican Fork at the home of her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Stewart, while Mr. Lott made a business trip to Alaska. Mrs. Byron Crookstan spent the past week in Kennelworth with her daughter, Lenore. During the week Mrs. Crookston attended two bridge parties given in honor of the marriage mar-riage of Miss Crookston and Mr. Theo J. Burton of that city. The marriage took place March 1 at American Fork. -The Adams Camp of the Daughters Daugh-ters of the Pioneers will hold their annual day of the camp organization organiza-tion next Thursday at the hom6 of Mrs. Lillian K. Brown. The history of F. C. and Margaretta King will be given, also musical numbers by members of the King family. All camp members will appear in pioneer pio-neer dresses, a prize to be awarded for the best costume. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gillispie an- i nounce the safe arrival of a baby boy at their home Tuesday evening. Miss Roma Strong of Alpine spent last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Monson. Mrs. Emma C. Smith left Tuesday for Los Angeles, California, to visit with her son, Melvin Rushton. Mrs. Clifford Cunningham of Seat- tie, Washington, who is enjoying an extended visit here, at the home of Mrs. Jennie Cunningham, is spending spend-ing this week at the home of Mrs. Cliff Talboe at Provo. Grant attended at-tended a convention of the Democratic Demo-cratic women of the state at the Newhouse hotel Tuesday. Late in the afternoon the ladies attended a tea given in honor of Miss Mary Dewson, National representative of j the organization. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Cleghorn announce an-nounce the arrival of a baby girl at their home Sunday. Mrs. Rulon Nicholes and Mrs. Elmo El-mo Peters entertained the members of the Literary League and guests at the Nicholes home Monday evening. Mrs. Fern Erkenbrack of Provo, read a three act play "First Lady" and Rulon Nicholes sang a solo. There were 40 ladies present. George E. Abel was taken to the L- D. S. hospital in Salt Lake City Wednesday morning- Mr- Abel has been improving from a recent illness and has returned to the- hospital for final treatment. He expects to return re-turn to his home in about a week. Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Baird enter-tamed enter-tamed at an attractively arranged dancing party Thursday evening in the Legion Memorial hall. This was a social event that proved delightfully delight-fully entertaining in every respect. Shamrock leaves and balloons were used for novelty dance mixers. Flowers Flow-ers were given to the lucky lady 'and gentleman as prizes. Motion picture pic-ture shots were taken of each of the 48 couples present. Miss Bessie Kelly Kel-ly and Alice Hallsey served dainty refreshments, the color scheme be- ing carried out in- green and white. |
