Mrs. Wilford Neves- entertained Tuesday at a birthday party for her daughter, Mary's 10th anniversary. Miss Margaret Lee returned to her duties in Los Angeles Tuesday after a pleasant three weeks visit with her mother, Mrs. Nina Lee. Mrs. Rose B. Hayes and Mr. and Mrs. S. Alma Kirk and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Swenson at Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence W. Pack and children left Thursday for Benton, California, to visit with Mrs. Pack's father and other relatives. rela-tives. Ray Merrill of the C. C. C. Camp, now at Soapstone, brings the report that the boys are all buisy with road building, camp improvement, etc. Most of their work is however on betterment of the roads. New replacements re-placements will be arriving within a few days. A large number of Pleasant Grove people attended the splendid annual annu-al hike services at Aspen Grove Friday evening. Several people also made the hike to Timpanogos. Two local boys were first to give aid to the gentleman from Ohio, who died at the glacier from a heart attack. Cyril Thome of Salt Lake visited Sunday with Pleasant Grove friends. He reports that his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James D. Thorne, are at present pres-ent in California. The following young ladies spent three days at Brighton canyon: The Misses Edna Fugal, Rhea Halli-day, Halli-day, Maxine Walker, Gene Richins, Edith Preston and Mrs. Phyllis Lar-sen, Lar-sen, Mrs. Leone Jense and Mrs. Jennie Fugal. Their vacation began on Sunday. Mrs. Leonard Racker of Lehi visited vis-ited Wednesday with Mrs. Ella M. Cragun. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund , Cragun and grandson were S"pring-ville S"pring-ville visitors Wednesday evening. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Ern Ash had as their guests Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Buhler and two small sons of Charleston. The Mothers club outing at Wild-wood Wild-wood in Provo canyon Thursday i evening was a decided success. The husbands took charge of the plans and served a delicious steak dinner at a long table seating about 40 members and husbands. A program of toasts, jokes and songs was enjoyed, en-joyed, after the dinner. Mrs. Mary Wright is at Draper helping care for her little granddaughter. grand-daughter. Mrs. Harold Wright, the mother, returned to her home from the Crane hospital, Friday. Mrs. Parley Christiansen entertained enter-tained Saturday afternoon in honor of her daughter, Karyl's 10th birthday birth-day anniversary. Games and refreshments re-freshments were the afternoon's pleasures. Those present were, Mary 1 Mrs. Christina Warnick is visiting with her son, Reed, and family at Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Carlson and sons, Elwood and Grant, of Woods Cross, visited with Pleasant Grove relatives Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Carlson of Murtaugh, Idaho, have been visiting visit-ing the past week with Mr. and Mrs. James Peterson and other relatives here. Lige, Jennie and Betty Pomeroy of Los Angeles were visitors at the home of Miss Thelma Gillman. Jimmie and Max Macfarlane and Kay Jacobs returned home last week from their trip to the nation's capitol with the Boy Scouts. They report a very interesting and en-' en-' joyable three weeks trip. Wendyl E. Thome of Washington, Washing-ton, D. C, visited one day last week with Pleasant Grove relatives and friends. He is touring California Califor-nia with his parents at present, before be-fore returning East to his duties. Frank B. Newman and Ross Niel-son Niel-son and families returned Monday from Yellowstone National Park, where they enjoyed a delightful vacation. va-cation. Miss Wanda Cullimore of Provo spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Cullimore. Mr. and Mi's. Charles E. Thorne left Thursday morning for Ohio to return the school bus for repairs. Five of the busses purchased by the district have been found defective and will have to be fitted with new bodies. Lewis Tripp and wife and daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Ellen Mortensen and two children of Murray visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Shoell and Joseph Shoell, who is ill at the home of his brother. Mrs. Lucille Moyle of Alpine entertained en-tertained Thursday evening in honor hon-or of the birthday of ker mother, Mrs. Ben Walker of Pleasant Grove. Bishop and Mrs. L. M. Atwood and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Atwood spent the week at McGill, Nevada, where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Malin -Smith. Miss Erma Atwood, At-wood, who has spent the pt month with her sister there, returned home Louise Adamson, Maxine Atwood, Alice Johnson, Betty Heidenreich, Joyce Fugal, Ardell Peterson, June Adamson and Joy Freeman. The following young couples enjoyed en-joyed a hamburger fry at the Cave Camp Saturday evening: Messrs and Mesdames Harold Keetch, Myron My-ron Jense, Guy Sorenson, George Nielsen, Ira Huntsman, Vance West, Melvin Braithwaite of Spanish Fork, and Joseph Larsen and Gwyn West. Mrs. Martha Johnson, Mrs. Vola J. Hancock, Miss Ruth Fage and Miss Thelma Walker left last Wednesday Wed-nesday for a two weeks trip visiting at Vernal then on to Steamboat Springs, Independence Rock, and on the Old Pioneer Trail to Sweetwater, Fort Lipton, the Platte River and on to Casper, Wyoming, where they visited with Mr. Hancock, then on to the Black Hills of South Dakota and back through Teton pass and the Northwest. In honor of Mrs. Millie Barker, who is visiting here from San Francisco, Fran-cisco, the Christiansen family held a canyon party in American Fork canyon Monday evening. Mrs. Barker's birthday occurred on July 20th and this party was arranged to .celebrate it. Mrs. Josephine Bezzant Bez-zant entertained in her honor Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon at a quiltting and social afternoon with old friends and companions. Present were, Mrs. Matilda S. Christiansen, Mrs. Eliza Jacobson, Mrs. Lorena Nielsen. Mrs. Mary Wright, Mrs. Perlinda Radmall and Mrs. Sena Christiansen. Christian-sen. John Nelson, who has been a great sufferer from rheumatism for about 25 years, was taken to Salt Lake a week ago Monday for special care. John's condition is reported to be serious. His father, Jens R. Nelson is ill at his home here also. Although John has been practically helpless, he has acted as gatherer of Vital Statics and has read much and been able to converse fluently upon the gospel and other subjects. The community greatly sympathize with them in their suffering. The wife and mother passed away a few years ago. with them. The second year Feods club will hold a luncheom class where correct luncheon menus will be studied. Two of .the girls will demonstrate how to serve properly. Place cards will be used also. Mrs. Warnick Swenson is in charge of the class. The Second ward Seagull girls met at the home of Miss Joyce Clark Monday to work on their Se-golia Se-golia books and make preparations for graduation. Miss Jean Anderson Ander-son was presented with a diary for being first to learn the Articles of Faith, which is required by the church before they receive their graduation certificates. The Home Science Club enjoyed an educational tour Friday. They visited the Heber J. Grant library. The most interesting parts to them were the display of early writings; the Robert Burns collection, which is 2nd best in the world, and books of early Mormon literature. They also attended the matinee "The Prince and the Pauper" and visited the Pleasant Grove library on their return. Mr. and Mrs. Jens P. Fugal received re-ceived a telegram Tuesday from ! their son, Rcy, Telling of their safe arrival Monday noon at Bridgeport, Conn. Roy and his I wife left Pleasant Grove Friday i about 8:00 p. m. after spending ten days with his family here. The Fugal families held a canyon party in his honor where he took colored moving pictures cf the group. Friday Fri-day the Jens Fugal family held a, reunion at their home when all of their children and grandchildren met together here and colored moving mov-ing pictures were taken of the families. fam-ilies. The eight children and parents par-ents enjoyed a breakfast together. Members present were: Mrs. Vida Swenson of Provo, Delbert Fugal, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Alda. Gardiner Gardi-ner of Afton, Wyoming. Roy Fugal of Bridgeport, Conn.; Mrs. Genevieve Gene-vieve Wright of Draper; Anna Fugal, Fu-gal, of. Salt Lake City; Gean and John, of Pleasant Grove.
