Show A.F. Hospital offers bereavement support One of the most traumatic occurences oc-curences in a lifetime is the loss of a loved one. A six-week bereavement group will be offered at American Fork Hospital starting March 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Same Day Surgery waiting room. "As the survivor deals with the emotions and adjustments following a loss, a predictable grieving process occurs as a part of the healing process," explained Phyllis Hansen, Medical Social Worker and Grief Therpaist. "Feelings of loss, anger, denial and depression are only some of the reactions which may be experienced." Bereavement groups help the survivor to identify these feelings and to learn to cope with the actual grieving process stages and adjustments. ad-justments. Sessions are under the direction of Phyllis Hansen, MSW who is trained in bereavement counseling. . "If the loss is dealt with inappropriately, inap-propriately, the survivor may suffer emotional pain for years to come, said Ms. Hansen. "When death is handled appropriately, family members and friends can gain a perspective and an understanding of the loss, along with a sense of acceptance.
