Show Review - Wednesday, Nov. 2, 1988 - Page 8 Curtis named varsity player of week at PGHS : "A- - J The Varsity Player of The Week for The Pleasant Grove High School Girl's Volleyball team is Lori Curtis. "Lori was selected because of her super game against Carbon. She did an excellent job setting and serving" observed Coach Marie Bone. Coach Bone said that Lori is a strong server and setter, with good control. Lori said that she feels that this last week that she earned the honor. "Tuesday's game was the best I've ever played. I'm enjoying my position more every game and I feel I handle a 5-- 1 pretty good. I love playing for P.G. this year," she commented. Lori has also participated in varied athletic pursuits, including basketball, soccer, fast and slow pitch Softball, dance, volleyball, tennis, gymnastics and track and field. She is a member of the Na-tional Honor Society, Seminary vice president and Deca Club. She has had 100 percent atten-dance in school sincekindergarten, won first place in Alpine days single tennis, and has been an all-st-in soccer for six years, and more. Her observation of the season has been that there is excellent l ori Curtis talent, individually, and if the team can pull together, they would be awesome. "We are working much better as a team . Now that we h a ve a system down, we will go far in state." Lori planson playingfor BYUon a volleyball scholarship, and then going to medical school. She then plans on having a family. J "A j j' 1A fWWffit f WIlllIEvfMI fill Valynn Storey, a member of the J.V. girl's volleyball team , has been named player of the week. Coach Pam Dahl said that Vinny played two good games this week. "She had strong serving as well as consistent setting for us. Vinny has been our team captain and has done an outstanding job for us." She was surprised at the honor, and said, "I am really gland that they select a player of the week, because it makes everyone hustle during the games. It really gave me more initiative to woik harder." Vinny has played softball for The Top Ten Flyers for years, and she has played basketball and soc-cer. She is in FBLA and The Na-tional Honor Society. She said that the J.V. team has a lot of talent, and if they work together, they can go far. She would like to attend college when she graduates. Vinny is the daughter of Valynn Storey George and Karen Storey. Mental illness classes planned Mental illness in a family member can cause innumerable problems for a family, often causing them to feel depressed, isolated and confused about the nature of the illness and the treatment offered. Realizing families often need help in coping with these problems. Timpanogos Community Mental Health Center is holding a series of classes, free of charge, about menial illness. These classes are designed to help family members understand the nature of the illness their loved one has and enable them to cope with their feelings about the illness, as well as the behavior patterns their loved ones may display. It is important for family members to attend these classes to enable them to gain the knowledge and skills to help them better assist I heir loved one in the treatment process. Timpanogos Community Mental Health Center is now in the process ill skirting a new class and invites anyone with a menially ill family member to attend.
