Show Pleasant Grove Firemen's Auxiliary begin fire safety, prevention program in schools All elementary school children in Pleasant Grove have been pretested regarding their knowledge of fire safety, according to the Pleasant Grove Firemen's Auxiliary. The main goal of the Fire Aux. is to have community fire prevention knowledge. There will be a National Fire Drill on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. and all members of the community are encouraged to participate. A flyer will be sent home with the school children on Oct. 5 to remind families of this event. The Auxiliary said that 80 per cent of all fire related deaths happen in the home. Of these, 50 per cent are children aged 13 or under. Another family program on fire prevention will be held Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. on television. The channel will be announced later. This will be a true story about a girl who was burned and how her family worked together. The Fire Ladies and McDonalds in American Fork will also sponsor a Fire Chief-for-a-day. A box for names will be located at McDonalds and children may enter. The winner will get to spend a day with the fire department and will receive a fireman's hat. |
