Art entries judged With over 1,000 entries, judges for the Youth Art Exhibit of the Utah Pageant of the Arts were hard pressed to determine the winners when they met Saturday at the Pageant Center. Marcia Peterson, Exhibit Director, said the entries were from all-ov- the state, and included entries from youth from kin-dergarten through twelfth grade. Names of winners will be an-nounced at Guild Gala night on June 15, with the winner of "Best of Show" to receive a $75 U.S. Savings Bond. Sweepstake winners in each grade will be presented with a $50 U.S. Savings Bond. Judging entries were area artists Allen Reinhold, Gina Peterson, JoAnne Nerdin Corpany, and Carol P. Harding. Jeri Draper is of the Youth exhibit which each year at-tracts top artists from throughout Utah. Entries will be on display at the Youth Art Exhibit during the 1985 season of the Utah Pageant of the Arts, according to Betty N. Celebrities perform Manookin Sacramento Symphony for 12 seasons. Mack Wilberg is an Assistant Professor of Music at BYU where he conducts the BYU Concert Choir and Men's Chorus. He is also an active accompanist-coac- h and composer. Lois Johnson and Kerry Arbon work with the Utah Valley Choral i Society to provide professionally prepared choral music to the community. The community will have a rare treat, to hear music and performers of such high calibre. This concert is presented by the Alpine Community Arts Council in conjunction with the Utah Arts Council and the National En-dowment for the Arts. i jo Ann Ottley, soprano, and Clayne Robison, baritone, head the list of musical celebrities who are participating in a celebration of music by composer Robert Manookin. The public is invited to attend the concert at the American Fork Tabernacle on Friday, May 17 at 8 p.m. Other performers include: Darreel Stubbs, oboe; Gaylen Hatton, French horn; Mack Wilberg, piano; and the Utah Valley choral Society, directed by Lois Johnson with Kerry Arbon, organist. A selection of vocal, in-strumental and choral works will be performed. The suggested donation is $3 for students and senior citizens, $4 for ' adults, or $10 for families. For more information, telephone Composer Robert Manookin is especially noted for his sacred choral music, with many works written for and performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Friends i the composer have organized this event and will be performing his works. Jo Ann Ottley is widely known throughout the country as a recitalist and soloist with symphony orchestras. She has appeared many times with the Utah Symphony and Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Clayne Robison is a member of the music faculty at BYU. He has performed more than 60 professional opera appearances, including soloist with the San Francisco Opera Company, the Boston Opera, Portland Opera, the Seattle Opera Association, and has soloed and recorded extensively with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Utah Symphony. Darrel Stubbs has performed with the American Woodwind Quintet, the Los Angeles Woodwinds, and the faculty quintets at BYU and the University of Utah. He performed as principal oboist with the Utah Symphony Orchestra for 13 years. Pageant sponsors workshop Registration for the Fourth An-nual Modern Dance Workshop is now underway. Doris Hudson-Trajill- o will again be director for I k intensive two-wee- k workshop, " which will be held June 17 through June 28. The workshop is spons6red by Utah Pageant of the Arts. Abby Fiat and Pat Debanham, both experienced professional dance teachers, will complete the faculty. The curriculum is designed for students, teachers, performers and interested community members. Dancers will be offered a conc-entrated experience in technique, improvization, composition, jazz and performance. The workshop will culminate with a performance ' June 29, featuring students and faculty. The Modern Dance Workshop is designed for persons" 15 years old and older, students 11 to 14 should register for Dance for Teens and those ages seven through 10 should enroll in Children's Dance. University of Utah credit is available for the workshop for an additional $25 per class, according to Ms. Hudson-Trujill- Workshop fees are $100 per student for the full workshop, $50 for classes meeting daily, $25 for classes meeting three times per week. Teens Class is $35, $15 for Children's Dance.
