Rodeo queeii selected . By GARY LEONARD The 1985 Strawberry Days rodeo queen was chosen May 11 from eight candidates. Tracy Beardall, 18, a senior at Spanish Fork 'High School was named as this years reigning queen after winning a horsemanship contest held in an indoor arena in Lehi. Contestants were judged on . how they handled their horses through various moves over the course. In addition to that, each girl was interviewed in-terviewed and judged on personality per-sonality and speaking. Toni Smith and Tonya Williams, both of Pleasant Grove were chosen as first and second attendants respectively and Angela Nielson, also of Pleasant Grove, was named as an alternate. Each of the girls received $50 in prize money and a traditional belt. buckle. Their official duties include presiding over the Strawberry Days rodeo and participating in the parade and other ceremonies. The queen and her attendants will also help with publicity in the upcoming days and they are scheduled to have lunch with Governor Bangerter and LDS Church officials on June 12 at the Lion House where they will present each official with a case of strawberries. |
