Show i Residents express concern over safe sidewalk project A number of Pleasant Grove residents met with the Pleasant Grove City Council last Tuesday to discuss concerns about the construction con-struction of the sidewalk in front of their homes. The city is installing curb, gutter and sidewalk on 100 East from 1200 North to 1800 North with funds received from the state's Safe Sidewalk fund. The citizens said they were extremely ex-tremely grateful to have the sidewalk installed and feel that it will probably save the life of a child who might have been hit walking in the roadway. They were concerned, however about the installation of the sidewalk, saying that they felt that the soil under the walk is not stable and may move and destroy the walkway. They said they felt that some corrections should be made now before it is too late and the sidewalk is lost in a few years. The residents said they would just like to see the project done right. Mayor David Holdaway said that sometimes the proper kind of landscaping land-scaping can be done which will provide a root system which will hold the soil in place. Earlier the city council had agreed to installing a retaining wall next to the irrigation ditch to avoid having the soil slough off into the ditch.
