Soule Sr. ilv Baum Jackman Renae Johnson Taylor, 57, American Fork, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 1985, at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, Provo, after an illness. She was born Sept. 29, 1927, at American Fork to LaMar and Merlene Johnson. She married Robert E. Taylor Oct. 6, 1944. She was an active member of the American Fork Jehovah Witnesses for more than 30 years. Survivors include her husband of American Fork; six daughters and one son: Mrs. James (Susann) Thomason, Salem; Mrs. Jeff (Aileen) Car-migna- Logan; Mrs. Robert (Paulette)' Thomas, Delta; Mrs. Norman (Robyn) Winters, Vernal; Mrs. Jeff (Julie) Pederson, American Fork; and Rachel Taylor and Robert Wade Taylor, both American Fork; six sisters. Soule, Sr., 78, died Feb. 14, 1985, in St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Alburgh, Vermont, on Nov. 16, 1906, to Milan V. and Lillie Mae (Hemingway) Soule. He married Mary K. Walker in Albany, N.Y. on Sept. 21, 1929. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He was an active i member of the LDS Church and supervised ' the building of the chapel in Newcastle- - i Upon-The-Tyn- Engl- - and. He was an avid genealogist, and held ' several positions in the Calif.; Mrs. Wells (Luciel) Collett, Kaysville, Utah; 29 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers and four sisters: Matthew Soule, Alburgh, Vt.; Robert Soule, Stratford, N.H.; Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Bohannon, Mrs. Ken-neth (Dorothy) Boutah and Mrs. Lewis (Anna) Martel, all of Vermont; and Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Patnaude, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by a son, George. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in the American Fork Stake Center. Burial was in the American Fork City Cemetery. Jody Lynn Bennett Jody Lynn Bennett, daughter of Kevin Richard and Christine Jackson Bennett of American Fork, returned to her Heavenly Father Wednesday, Feb. 13, 1985. She was born November 19, 1984 with a congenital heart defect. Jody overcame many difficulties during her short stay here and taught her family much about life. She is survived by her parents of American Fork; two brothers: Christopher Kevin and Jeffrey Scott; grand-parents: Richard and Shirley Bennett, American Fork; and Clint and Ruth Jackson, Pleasant Grove. Graveside services were held Saturday, Feb. 16, 1985 at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City. Shumway Laurie Nyman, the three-day-ol- d daughter of Ronald Evan and Laraine Landon Nyman of American Fork, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 1985, in the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. She was born Feb. 3, 1985. She is survived by her parents of American Fork; two brothers and three sisters: Evan Wade, Jeffrey Scott, Tamara Lyn, Kathryn and Crystal; grand-parents: Ferris H. and LaVerna A. Nyman, Logan, Utah ; and Doyle Y. and Glenda Cole Landon, Vernal, Utah. Services were held Friday, Feb. 8, at Wing Mortuary Chapel, Lehi. Burial was in the American Fork City Cemetery. i J ' '' 1 i Dean Powell, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 1985 at his home in Lehi of causes incident to age. He was born June 2, 1900 in Lehi to James Augustus and Prudence Dean Powell. . He married Arthella Gay, Nov. 24, 1926 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He helped in the construction of the Geneva Steel Plant and also worked at In-terstate Brick. He was a in a clay-be- d mining operation. He was an industrious and hard-workin- g man. He owned and operated Powell's American Service Station where he worked with his son Dean Keith Powell, Midvale; William G. Powell, Lehi; Mrs. C. Reed (Beverlee) Tolman, Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Duane (Diane) Ellsworth, Sandy;. 16 grand-children; 10 great grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Francis (Myrtle) Grant, Lehi; Mrs. Glen H. (Violet) Varney and Mrs. LeGrande (Daisy) Penrod, both American Fork; Mrs. C. LaVar (Fern) Carlson, Orem. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Wing Mortuary Chapel, Lehi. Burial was in the Lehi City Cemetery. Lewis Earl Shumway, Fork, died Sesday, Feb. 12, 1985 tUtah Valley Regional 1 Medical Center, Provo Nov. 28, He Was born 0 at Tropic, Garfield n County, to JRichard franklin and Margaret Hannah Johnson Shumway. He married Leona Mae Gagon Feb. u 19i8 at Duchesne. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He grew up at Tropic and worked with his lather in the sheep I business. As; a young man he moved to Roosevelt with his family in 1923. He moved to Carbon County and spent most of his life working in the coal mines. He moved to Orem in 1957 after retiring. He spent the last two years with his son in American Fork. He was an active High Priest in the Orem 21st Ward. He is survived by his wife of American Fork; two sons and two daughters: William Richard Shumway,-Raton- , N.M.; Earl Shumway, American Fork; Mrs. Floyd (Leona) Higgins, Provo; and Mrs. Ed ward (Ardis) Brady, West Valley City; 23 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; two great great grand-children; one brother: Amos Shumway, Chino, Calif.; sisters, Erma Cope, Spanish Fork; Mrs. Mark (Hannah) Johnson, Henderson, Nev.; Theressa LeFevere, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Burton (Lula) McKee, Holden; and Mrs. Carlin (Verna) Hinton, Hurricane. Services were Friday, Feb. 15, at Sundberg-Olpi- n Mortuary, Orem. Burial was in the Orem City Cemetery. until retirement at age 72. He had a great love for his family and was an avid fisherman. Sargent I- - V t Betty Lou Sargent, 63, Yuma, Arizona, died Jan. 25, 1985, at a Veterans Ad-ministration hospital in Tucson, Arizona. She was born in Farmington, 111., to Roy and Myrtle Ragsdale. She married Reed Dunkley, July, 1964. She married Harold Sargent in 1969. She worked at Smith's Rexall Drug for years and at the Hunger Hut in American Fork. Arizona during winters and near Deer Creek Reservoir during summers. She is survived by her daughter, March Latner, Orem; one sister, Georgia Lee Carrier, Peoria, 111. ; one brother, Kenneth Ragsdale, peoria, 111.; and four grandchildren. Memorial services were held Feb. 18 at the Community Presbyter-ian Church in American Fork. prelude and postlude were played by Barbara Gange. The invocation was by Bruce Nelson. Sharon Fotheringham presented the life sketch and Shanuna Kelly played a piano solo, "Oh My Father." A speaker was Phil D. Jensen and Thora Chadwick presented "In My Fathers House Are Many Mansions," ac-companied by Cheryl Norman. Remarks were given by Bishop Rowley and the benediction was by James Kelly. The grave was dedicated by Max Nelson. Marion W. Kelly, 64, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 1985, in American Fork. He was born Sept.. 30, J 1920, in Lincoln, Idaho, S to Alva Leroy and Lydia Adams Kelly. He married Nelda Durrant j)ct. 20, 1950 in American Fork. He was jmployed at Geneva Seel for 23 years and lad been a staff iergeant in the Army or eight years during NorldWar II. ; Survivors include his life of American Fork ; ine son and two laughters: James !ieRoy Kelly, Mrs. Alan Sharon) Fotheringham and Shauna Kelly, all of American Fork; five grandchildren; two brothers: Karl A. Kelly, Orem; Leonard Kelly, Provo. Services were under the direction of Bishop Richard Rowley of the American Fork Sixth Ward. Casketbearers were Brad Nelson, Brian Durrant, Tony Mayhew, Brent Durrant, Russell Durrant, James Kelly and honorary casket-beare- r, ' Richard Fotheringham.
