I Collector glad hats are back in style at 6 "i just enjoy wearing them," ! Nona Bingham smiled as she displayed her collection of over 100 hats. """I "In my day, it was the thing to do to wear a hat - and I didn't outgrow it," she said as she showed a lacy white creation, a flat, wide brimm-ed summer hat, and several "pill boxes." "Besides," she quipped, "you need to keep your head covered in the summer to keep out the heat and in the winter to keep out the cold." ' ' A resident of Pleasant Grove, Mrs. Bingham said her collection includes evervthine from a pioneer sunbonnet she made herself to hats used for costumes and fancy dress hats. Holding up a velvet covered "ring," Mrs. Bingham explained that this was the base for a type of hat popular in years past. Then saying, "this is a favorite of mine," Mrs. Bingham tried on a white Hat of straw-lik- e material with lace and flower trim. Hats that belonged to her mother and to her sister are also included in the collection, she said. Mrs. Bingham said she had been married several years when she first began wearing hats - and is glad they are coming back into popularity again. Commenting on always being seen in a hat, Mrs. Bingham laughed "some people don't know me without a hat," She recalled once appearing in a program in her LDS Ward - without a hat -- - and some audience members wondered who she was, "if I had just moved in." Mrs. Bingham said she doesn't like a "shoddy hat" and decried the fact that ZCMI and other Utah Valley department stores have closed their millinery departments. "It's hard to find real nice hats in the valley now," she said. Babies born in Am. Fork Hospital: Jan. 31 Boy to Kay and Lorie Kendall Ricks of American Fork. Patey of the Patey Human Resource Foundation will present a free introductory lecture Thursday, Feb. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Provo Power building, 251 West 800 N. Patey will discuss how to uproot stress, rather than just reduce or manage it. Misbehavior is the manifestation of stress and is almost always the symptom of another problem. When you pound on a misbehavior, it may merely go underground to resurface again and again. Learn principles to get to the root of problems rather than dealing with symptoms.
