Show Police cautioned to take extra care to avoid disease Pleasant Grove police officers will be taking extra precautions in the future when called to assist in situations where unsanitary conditions may exist. At the recommendation of the Utah County Department of Alcohol and Drugs the department will make an effort to protect themselves when it is possible. The department has already asked the officers to use masks of a special type when giving mouth to mouth resuscitation in order to avoid any type of contamination. It is recommended that they also use disposable rubber gloves, plastic covering on shoes and disposable surgical masks when necessary. They noted that the more prevalent occurence of Herpes virus and AIDS as well as "jungle camps" are putting the officers in a more perilous position than they have been before. If the officers are accidentally exposed they are being instructed in how to cleanse themselves and their clothes before coming in contact with others. |
