Ferguson, a rcgislered nurse on the Medical floor, has been named employee of I he month for September at the American Fork Hospital. Mrs. Ferguson is well liked by her and is described as being "one of the sweetest persons" they know. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was raised in Ixs Angeles, California, and graduated from Granada Hills High School before going on to graduate from the Brigham Young University College of Nursing. She is the mother of four "super kids," Brittany, 13, Kristi, 11, Joel, 6 , and Aaron, 4'a. 'Prior to coming to American Fork Hospital in January of 1981, she worked at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo; and Sanpete Valley Hospital in Mt. Pleasant -- - for a total of 14' years with Inlermountain Health Care associated hospitals. Mrs. Ferguson says she has worked on the Medical floor, in the Emergency Room, and in the In-tensive Care Unit. She has also been involved with the hospital customer relations committee, and the home IV Therapy program. Her hobbies are anything athletic including jogging, bicycling, aerobics, and her kids. BarbaraPr!s. Hospital has speakers availai The American Fork Hospital Speakers Bureau offers a wide variety of topics free to the public for civic groups, clubs, businesses, schools and churches. Speakers provided from the hospital include physicians, technicians, nurses, administrative personnel, and physical fitness experts, says Creta Blackburn, Public Relations Director at the hospital. Topics may be arranged or may be chosen from a comprehensive list including current topics in eye diseases, advances in O.B., what to do in emergencies, emergency first aid, CPR, running marathons, aerobic fitness, nutrition, weight loss and exercise, why same day surgery, nursing as a profession, health care and wellness, the working woman-mothe- r, pre-marital counseling, child behavior and sexual problems in marriage. The second lecture includes the physiology of labor, when to go to the hospital, breathing techniques with demonstration and practice, and a tour of the labor and delivery area of the hospital. The third lecture includes analgesics and anesthesia, emergency childbirth, deliveries, and exercise during pregnancy with a demonstration and practice. Pare; pleting the course will American Fork Hospital's prenatal classes begin Sept. 26, according to Sally Baird, R.N., instructor. The classes go for six weeks and include films, video's, guest speakers, demonstrations on how to give a new baby its bath, breathing techniques during labor with demonstration and practice, a tour of the hospital, and "a lot of prac-tical ideas," Ms. Baird said.
