But the Panthers put together a four-run rally that kept the game from being a complete rout. However, when the Vikes went on offense in the fifth they quickly got back two of those runs as Norman, Phillips and Bronson had hits. Robert Harrison gave the dying Panthers one last thing to cheer with a solid home run over the cinderblock wall in left field and the 14-6 score stood until Pleasant Grove got to hit in the seventh inning. Pleasant Grove made it to the final six before being eliminated by Spanish Fork in the 3-A State Baseball Tourney last week. In the opening game, Shawn 1 Story pitched well but errors helped j; Ogden down the Vikings 6-2. Wednesday's game, played at Derks Field in Salt Lake, was a different Story as the Vikes pounded West pitching for 23 hits and 20 runs. The 20-6 Pleasant Grove victory knocked West, the defending 3-A Champions out of the tourney. Scott Mosher, Pleasant Grove's junior right handed pitcher went ; the distance to gain the win. As the visitors, Pleasant Grove I jumped ahead 5-0 in the top of the ; first inning. Tracy Flinders lined ' the first pitch to left for a single, Matt Norman beat out an infield hit that was followed by a Shane Phillips double to the wall in left field. Paul Bronson, who had five runs batted in during the game, bounced a two rbi single over the second baseman to score Norman and Phillips. Shawn Bezzant doubled in a run and Shawn Story, the designated hitter powered a towering drive over the centerfielders head sending Bezzant home for the early 5-0 lead. Pleasant Grove added four more runs in the second on hits from Flinders, Norman, Phillips, Bronson and Cory Conder. In the third, Mosher beat out a ground ball to the shortshop's right side and Norman singled.
