Show Girls basketball team begins anew A new beginning could be applied to this years Viking girls basketball team with a new coach John Kurtz and 11 sophomores new to the program. Assistant Coach Evelyn Burton and three returning let-termen let-termen will greatly add to the needed guidance. With 33 girls trying out for the team this year, cuts had to be made with the following girls making the team. Seniors and returning let- termen who will be counted upon greatly to provide leadership are Bonnie Turner and Judy Vorhees. Returning junior letterman is Lorna Joseph, Margo Nelson a transfer from Idaho, and other juniors who are playing for their first time, Angie Bates, Michone and Sharon Card and Paulette Measom. A super sophomore class consisting con-sisting of Melissa Bennett, Angie Bone, Debbie Fisher, Lila Fugal, Cherylnn Johnson, D'Nette Holdaway, Laurie Ostler, Sam Smith, Vickie Walker, Jill West, and Cindy Wilcox make up the rest of the team. Two new ideas have been added to this years schedule, , a holiday tournament on Dec. 19 and 20 with American Fork, Springville, Lehi and Pleasant Grove competing. Also sometime in January a free throw marathon contest will be held I to raise money for the girls basketball program. This years team is an extremely young and inexperienced one but once the region starts in January the lady Vikings will have developed into a strong arid contending con-tending team for the Region 8 crown.
