Timp Scout District holds fellowship, a wardsbanquet , i ! if .'-V - - . i M -"a f - ' " ' , :A " : 'I v5 - ;y The Timpanogos Scout District held its annual Fellowship and Awards Banquet on November 4th, 1983 at the Manila Stake Center. Sherm Vamey, Chairman of the District for the past seven years, retired at the event. Harold Jacklin was named as his successor. In another change of office, Joan Lewis, Cub Scout Chairman for the past several years stepped down. Her successor is Ken Coleman. Joan Lewis presented special awards to the following for service to Cub Scouting in the district: Robert Eyre, Niel Yerkes, Barbara Grant, Linda Hammond, Doug Cook, Ken Coleman, Myrle Astrope, Virginia Wilcox, and Karen Horman. She also presented Andy Benson, the district winner of the Cub Scout National Youth Representative Award, and his parents. Sherm and Mary Varney were presented two beautiful plaques in recognition for their long and dedicated service to Scouting. Scout Healey was presented his Woodbadge beads by Glen I Molyneus. Lavar Richman awarded Second Miler Awards to Peter Schmidt, Gayle Taylor, James Rue Nielson, Jay F. Harmer, Gary McKuen, David Thurgood, Gordon Taylor, Joseph Frank Mills, James A Tenney, William B. Gibson, Roger S. Olson, and Sherm Varney. Jackson, and Sherm Varney. The keynote address was given by President Iceland Friday, Provo Temple President. He admonished the scouter, with their success in Scouting, not to forget their "families. He advised them to be prayerful, and to teach their boys to be likewise. |
