Show sports shorts Association, will be held March 5 at Jack and Jill Bowling Lanes in American Fork. This event will be the first of its kind in Utah, as all proceeds will benefit the Utah Easter Seal Society. Everyone is invited to participate in this exciting event. Participants are asked to obtain sponsors for each point scored in a three-game series, and to bring their sponsor forms to Jack and Jill Lanes on March 5 from noon to 6 p.m. (Sponsor forms are available at Jack and Jill Bowling on East State Road and Robinson and Wilson Century 21 Realty, 405 E. State Rd., American Fork.) A $100.00 bowling gift certificate will be awarded to the top money-raiser at each center, and other prizes to be awarded (based on the number of sponsors and the amount of money raised) include: bowling pins, t-shirts, t-shirts, windbreakers, and an opportunity op-portunity to appear on the Easter Seal Telethon (March 26-27 KSTU TV 20). The greatest prize the bowlers will win however, is the satisfaction they gain in knowing they are helping to provide services to disabled children and adults in Utah. The Vikea open this year's ; baseball campaign on March 14 by ' hoeting Bingham. Later in March, ; the team will travel to Las Vegas to participate in a three state tournament with teams from California, Utah and Nevada. ' Coach Hoover sees the Region 7 . race as a battle between American Fork, Orem and Pleasant Grove with Provo as potentially a good team. PC's squad will be built around six returning seniors. In addition to All-' All-' Region Scott Walker and Clark Hill, 'the Viking seniors are Charlie ; Baldridge, Tim Chambers, Don ; Grothe and Jason Allred. ; Matt Norman and Shawn Bezzant s are the juniors who saw the most playing time last year and along with Shawn Story, they should make a significant contribution to this year's team. Junior Varsity Basketball The Junior Varsity led by one at halftime but then fell 65-51 to Orem last week. Bryce Peterson scored 14 points with Jim Brown adding 9. Brown played only in the first half before being called up for Varsity play. BYU Football players to speak at Father-on Night Manila Elementary School PTA will sponsor a special "Father and Son" Night on Thursday, March 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Guest speakers for the event will be BYU quarterback, Steve Young and All-American wide receiver, Gordon Hudson. An autographed football will be given as a door prize. All fathers of Manila students and their school age sons are invited to attend. Varsity Basketball Orem rolled to a 77-55 win over Pleasant Grove in the Vikings last game of the 1983 season. Matt Norman lead the Pleasant Grove effort with 16 points while Eric Nelson dropped in 13. The tall Tiger five, that plays this week in the 3-A tournament in" Ogden, jumped to an early 4 point first period lead and never looked back.
